It was a rare, sunny afternoon in London, Tamra and her family were strolling down by the river Thames. Aimlessly ambling beneath the Waterloo Bridge they came across some classic, striped, old English deckchairs. As her English husband became nostalgic, it occurred to Tamra how these chairs barely existed outside of Europe.
On her return to Vancouver, she talked about the idea of making these chairs with her best friend Gwyn, a Welsh lass who felt much nostalgia towards the deckchair too. And so with Tamra’s passion for woodworking, Gwyn’s impeccable eye for design and a couple of bottles of wine, Gallant & Jones, from their maiden names, was born.
And so, the wheels were set in motion to set up an environmentally responsible business hand making deckchairs from their little workshop in Vancouver. Sourcing beautiful, North American black walnut wood and gorgeous fabrics, the fantastic range of Gallant & Jones deckchairs are now available for the world to enjoy. The chairs are named from beaches and lakes in British Columbia, Great Britain and beyond that hold special memories for them.

The Gallant & Jones Deckchair
All our frames are handmade and hand finished. We use wood from well-managed forests, a strong waterproof glue and eco friendly teak oil yacht stain for superior outdoor and UV protection. Each chair is branded with the Gallant & Jones logo.
We make two styles of chair. Our beach chair has a rustic black walnut finish and permanently attached outdoor fabric. The deluxe Garden chair is of a higher finish and facilitates interchangeable fabric slings and matching pillows. Each of these frames comes with 2 black walnut dowels to hold the fabric in place.
With every chair purchased we will donate to plant a tree.
