Giving Back

Along with our donations to Lovetrees, we have recently donated to Rethink Breast Cancer to raise funds for their cutting edge breast cancer education, research, and support programs. We have also donated to Rockin For Research which is a charity event that raises money for juvenile (Type 1) diabetes. It was founded by the band Loverboy. They put on their first benefit in November 2000 and the event has since turned into one of the best fundraising galas in the city raising over 6 million dollars to date. It feels amazing to give, and lots of other businesses are giving back in some way, either to children, the environment or people in need.

One business that we fully admire and that is at the forefront of this movement is TOMS. They have a ‘One for One‘ program and with every single pair of shoes that are sold, they donate a pair to children in developing countries. This principle is one that the company was founded on and they’ve given away over 1 million pairs of new shoes. I have this pair and I love them! They’re so comfortable.

TOMS collaborated with Element Skateboards to join their One for One program. With every skateboard purchased, Elements and TOMS donated a skateboard to kids in Isithumba South Africa, near Durban.
Aveda, manufacturers of professional plant-based hair care, skin care, and makeup have always had a commitment to the environment since their company began in 1978. They have an Earth Fund Grantmaking Program which demonstrates their commitment to earth and community care by partnering with nonprofit organizations focused on caring for the earth and protecting biodiversity.
I hope there are many other companies out there that are giving back and having a positive influence on the world. Please leave a comment if you know of any…
