Textiles Inspiration: André Durenceau

Four plant form compositions by André Durenceau

André Durenceau’s was born in France and moved to the US at the age of 24, armed with a collection of 128 pochoir prints that were then published in a book called ‘Inspirations’. The designs are a combination of geometric shapes and abstracted florals and are so unexpected, this definitely became a style of the Art Deco movement and reminds me of another favourite of mine Edouard Benedictus.

André Durenceau went on to be a successful muralist and worked as a colourist for Technicolour.

Hope you enjoy the images of Monsieur Durenceau’s work, you can see more here.
