Who are you?

My name is Brendan Duggan.

Where are you?

I started Get Bent Metal, a small welding shop in Gravenhurst, Ontario 6 years ago. After working in the movie industry in Toronto for years, I got fed up with city life and moved to cottage country to start my own enterprise.

Why do you hand make your products?

I have always enjoyed making objects, I remember assembling sculptures as a child in my fathers workshop from the leftover television electronics he used to work with. Now, I can’t imagine not making things, what else would I do? I am most at peace when a project is completed to my satisfaction.

How long did it take to make?

From start to finish the octopus lamp took a few years to complete. I have assembled and reassembled it a few times until I was happy with it. To make another now, with a plan in place it would be about 40 hrs.

What hopes/dreams do you have for your products? Where would you like to see them?

I’ve been looking for a brick and mortar retailer to carry my items but it hasn’t happened yet. Most of the work I do is for residence’s in my area, railings, chandeliers that type of thing. I get most of my sales of smaller items through customers who come in looking for a railing and they end up buying the ready made Items.

Thank you Brendan.
