Who are you?
Nathan Danials Owner of the Etsy shop BurdHaus
Where are you?
In a small, first tier suburb of Minneapolis called Golden Valley, MN
Why do you hand make your products?
Not so long ago, like many others I’m sure, I found myself in the unenviable situation of being employed by the creative company of my dreams, but residing in a division where creativity was rather dormant and unwelcome. Upon emancipating myself from that environment, I started an Etsy shop with a few outdoor pieces. I made my first birdhouse quite by chance and just chose to make that my niche de jour. So far, I’ve been delighted to see my creativity validated by people whose job and passion it is to recognize it. I hope to keep creating fresh content and expand on my successes so far. I should also note that my 7 year old daughter, Kittson provides inspiration and an editing eye when needed.
Where would you like to see them?
I would like to keep creating for handmade sites, but I’d also enjoy being able to expose of a larger audience to simple, modern pet and shelter products designed, produced, and delivered in the USA. I don’t just wish this for my benefit, but for all handmade artists that consistently, and gladly provide an alternative to “handpicked” rather than handmade products.
What hopes and dreams do you have for your products?
I would enjoy knowing if, when, and how any of my products made someone happy. I try to produce things that one just can’t help but to look at. If that continues, someone, somewhere will recognize talents where they’re due, and opportunities will present themselves.
Thank you Nathan.
