Textiles Inspiration: Cath Kidston

We had our little girl Mabli Lola (yey!) a few weeks ago and after 9 months of being utterly convinced she was a boy (doh) I have had to scrap all the boyish ideas we had for her nursery and start again… I love a bit of floral these days, but as a print student ‘years’ ago I absolutely hated doing them, our tutors told us to become a successful print designer you had to get a handle on small florals as these are the markets best sellers. Cath Kidston is the best at florals, ‘ditsies‘ and ‘converstaional‘ prints, I figured why even bother when she does them so well?

Cath Kidston Ltd started out in 1993, when Cath opened a little store in Holland Park selling vintage fabrics, wallpapers and furniture that she had loved since her childhood. She soon started designing her own prints, the first of which was made into an ironing board cover. Since then Cath Kidston Ltd has become and internationally recognised and loveable brand selling fabrics, wallpapers and many many different products. Cath is still creative director of her business and has even been awarded an OBE for her services to business.

And while I struggle to mix and match the pre-bought boyish clothes Mabli is currently wearing with something a bit more girly (via Cath Kidston, no doubt) I leave you with some of her lovely products to look at. Whenever you are looking for something delicate and feminine, go to Cath Kidston!

Have a great week!
