Okay, I’ll admit it. It hasn’t exactly been a great start to summer here in Vancouver. But I still have hope! We are definitely going to have some super hot, sunny days here on the West coast. So, we might as well get geared up for when that lovely Summer sun comes beaming down on us and we’re all heading to one of Vancouver’s amazing beaches.
Here are some great organic and natural products to get you in the mood for summer:
Sunglasses from Proof are crafted from sustainable wood in Boise, Idaho. Proof offers sunglasses and eyewear that are customizable using different wood types and lens options. Their slogan is LOOK GOOD. DO GOOD. And they do just that! Proof provides a top product for its customers while helping others in need. They donate a large part of sales to organizations in need of help such as sight giving surgeries to people in India. Check out their Spring 2012 look book here.
Have you read the ingredients on the back of a bottle of regular sunscreen lately? How many ingredients do you even recognize never mind able to pronounce?!?! Not good. Natural mineral sunscreen is definitely the way to go. There are many choices out there, you can even make your own sesame sunscreen with Sophie Uliano of Gorgeously Green here.
For after sun care, I think Burt’s Bees skin care products are great since almost all of their products are made of 100% natural ingredients. And they are a company who loves to give back! They commit to pledge at least 10% of all website sale revenues to their selected “well being” partners.
Solerebels Footwear is an amazing company that epitomizes looking good, feeling good and supporting a great cause. Every aspect of their company, which is based in Ethiopia, is aimed at applying the unique cultural arts they have practiced in their country for many years. Their flip flops and shoes feature recycled car tire soles and an array of recycled and sustainable materials like hand spun + hand loomed organic fabrics and a pallete of unique natural fibers. Pretty amazing stuff. Check out their amazing ethos here (there’s too many to list!).
